Day 2 – Howes Store to Pierre

Whole lot of nothing here in South Dakota, or as Dad would say, “miles and miles of miles and miles.”

We stopped at a gas station / café for lunch and the storm that hit us last night hit them much harder. Softball-sized hail had torn holes in the screens and broken windows, in addition to battering the steel gas pumps until their sides looked like golf balls.

Very flat terrain, with the exceptions of a very few river valleys. The views from the bike have all been beautiful, but for the most part it’s been like looking at the same painting from different angles.

We stopped just before Fort Pierre and managed to find a recreation area just to the north, which is where we parked the Winnebago for the evening.

Looking into a river valley. We went down for about a mile!

Open roads for miles.

Nice little panorama of most of the nothing we rode through! Very pretty.
